In Singapore, since the A-level system doesn't include an A* grade, any equivalent A* and A grades from the UK A-levels are considered as A grades in Singapore A-levels. For instance, a UK A-level requirement of A*A*A* translates to AAA in Singapore A-levels. Similarly, a UK A-level requirement of AAA is equivalent to AAA in Singapore A-levels. Once you have attained your law degree from the above list and wish to be admitted to the Singapore Bar, individuals must be a Qualified Person by:
- Being a citizen or permanent resident of Singapore.
- Having an Applicable Law Degree from the above recognised Institutions of Higher Learning in the United Kingdom.
- Attaining at least lower second class honours for the Applicable Law Degree.
- Passing Part A of the Singapore Bar Examinations.
- Undertaking relevant legal training/practice/work after passing the final examination for the Applicable Law Degree.
Is it competitive to study law?
Studying law in the UK is highly competitive. Most universities require a minimum of AAA as seen in the list above. Additionally, many universities mandate the LNAT, a two-part test involving computer-based multiple-choice questions and essay writing — assessing your aptitude for legal study.
