Yale University

Yale seems to have the lowest acceptance rate for Early Action (and RD) New Zealand students when compared to other universities such as Harvard and Princeton. Why is this the case?

Hi Anon - I have investigated this for you, and we believe that this is because more NZ students are interested in Finance/Economics and related commerce subjects. The subjects tend to be more heavily represented at Harvard and Princeton than Yale.

Thanks for your reply. That makes sense!
Could another factor be because Yale favours accepting mainly athletes and legacies in the early round compared to Harvard, Princeton etc?

Maybe - but that’s one of those things that is difficult to generalize. There may be years where more legacy students and/or athletes are accepted in the early round at all three schools, but that’s not necessarily always going to be the case.
