Māori student and previous Te Ara a Kupe Beaton Scholarship winner, Sam, gains admission to Harvard

Some 3 years ago, 15-year-old Sam applied for Crimson’s Te Ara a Kupe Beaton Scholarship figuring he might as well throw his hat in the ring! Little did he know back then that his becoming one of five talented Māori students to receive the scholarships led to his working with Crimson and eventually gaining admission to Harvard and Yale.

The soon to be Harvard freshman, who dreamed, even then, of being New Zealand’s first Māori Prime Minister, is well on his way, having gained acceptance to Harvard - which breeds leaders like Barack Obama, John F. Kennedy (and 6 other US Presidents) to name a few. To read more about Sam’s journey from Mount Maunganui, to Cambridge, Massachusetts, click the button below.
