How Do Australian Universities Rank Against The World’s Top Universities?

Growing up in Australia, we’re lucky to have access to a high standard of education. Our universities are large and attract a large cohort of overseas students. But exactly how well do our universities fare when pitted against other institutions located elsewhere in the world?

And given our students are some of the brightest and hard working on the planet - should they be considering options beyond Australian shores?

The answer to the second question posed above is ‘yes’ - but only because Australian students deserve options beyond the handful of universities seen as traditional pathways at home.

The answer to the first question was addressed just last week when the highly anticipated Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021 was released — showing how Australian universities were ranked against their international - or most significantly US and UK-based - counterparts.

Let’s see where Australian universities were placed after Times Higher Education evaluated some 1,500 universities across 93 different countries.

It is well known that universities such as Oxford and Cambridge, Harvard and Princeton, Dartmouth, and the University of Notre Dame, just to name a few, boast powerful and generous alumni networks dedicated to both giving back to their alma mater financially and helping new graduates gain employment opportunities post-graduation.
