Columbia nearly matched its record-breaking Class of 2025 regular admissions application numbers. The university received 54,072 regular decision applications and accepted only 1,603 students. As one of the most competitive schools in the Ivy League, Columbia only admitted 2.96% of students in the regular admissions round.
Admissions experts and Columbia’s office of undergraduate admissions believe the increase in applications over the last two years is likely due to its test-optional policy, which is now extended to 2024.
While the number of applicants to Columbia grew significantly from 2020 to 2021, the application numbers remained steady in 2022, decreasing only slightly from 60,551 to 60,377.
