The NCEA to Grade Point Average (GPA) calculator converts your combined NCEA scores into a simplified 4.0 scale GPA format.
This allows you to achieve an overall view of where your academic candidacy stands in comparison to US students. More importantly it will show how competitive you are — or how competitive you can be with further study or tutoring support — in the top US college admissions process.
The National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) is the secondary curriculum designed and implemented nationally in New Zealand. It covers three years of high school (years 11, 12 and 13), over which you will typically sit six subjects in Level 1, six in Level 2 and five in Level 3.
US schools use a letter grading system, with a corresponding letter grade, for example an A or B or C. Your GPA, which is measured on a scale from 0 to 4.0, is the cumulative average of the grades in all of your subjects and is calculated by dividing the total amount of grade points earned by the total amount of credit hours attempted.
Using the calculator is simple! All you need to do is fill in all your NCEA credits according to your achievement level.
If you haven’t done Level 2 or 3, just fill the spaces using 0 (zero).
Once you have received your converted NCEA to GPA, you will be on the road to carving out your own journey towards top US college admission — the first step being maximising your academics to lift your overall candidacy.
