Māori student and previous Te Ara a Kupe Beaton Scholarship winner, Sam, gains admission to Harvard
Some 3 years ago, 15-year-old Sam applied for Crimson’s Te Ara a Kupe Beaton Scholarship figuring he might as well throw his hat in the ring! Little did he know back then that his becoming one of five talented Maori students to receive the scholarships led to his working with Crimson and eventually gaining admission to Harvard and Yale.
The soon to be Harvard freshman, who dreamed, even then, of being New Zealand’s first Maori Prime Minister, is well on his way, having gained acceptance to Harvard - which breeds leaders like Barack Obama, John F. How to Apply
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the 2020 applications round for the Te Ara a Kupe Beaton Scholarship will be postponed. If you're still interested and eligible, look out for the launch of the next round in 2021.
Step 01
Submit a 500 word maximum statement as to how this scholarship will benefit your future
Step 02
List your extracurricular and leadership activities which can include sporting involvement
Step 03
List any involvement in Maori culture initiatives
Step 04
Provide a specific statement of competency in Te reo Maori
Step 05
Submit a CV and academic transcript (term report & formal examination results)
