3 Days to Research, Create, Lead, and Propose like a Global Policy Maker
Work directly with Yale mentors as you tackle global challenges, develop SDG policy solutions, and pitch your ideas in an immersive MUN-style experience. Through hands-on challenges, debate, and collaboration with globally minded peers, you’ll sharpen your ability to think critically, communicate persuasively, and lead across cultures — skills that will give you an edge in MUN and beyond.

More Than Learning. Every Day Is a Challenge.
DAY 1
4PM - 8PM
Research social issues facing Japan and dig deeper into why these challenges exist. Through discussions with Yale mentors and fellow participants, develop the research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills needed to approach complex issues from a policymaker’s perspective.
DAY 2
12:30PM - 8PM
Work with your team to transform your research into a concrete policy solution. Debate different perspectives, then take part in a hands-on public speaking workshop to learn how to structure, deliver, and confidently present your ideas in English.
DAY 3
10 AM - 7PM
Put your ideas into action by presenting your policy proposal to an audience of mentors, peers, parents. Apply what you’ve learned, build confidence on stage, and take your first step toward global MUN & public-speaking opportunities.

Jesse M.
Studying Global Affairs and Education Studies
Jesse is a junior from Montana studying Global Affairs with a certificate in Education Studies. He has been involved with MUN broadly for seven years, and with YIRA for three. Previously, he has served as the Under-Secretary-General of Delegations for YMUN South Asia and as the Director-General of Operations for YMUN Singapore.


Pia S.
Studying Economics and Global Affairs
Pia is a sophomore from Manila studying Economics and Global Affairs. Celebrating her ninth year in MUN, she has been in the shoes of delegates, dais, and secretariat, in conferences all around the globe. Outside of YIRLC, she also serves as the Director-General of Committees for YMUN Taiwan.


Mary F.
Studying Global Affairs and History
Mary Fahy (she/her) is a rising sophomore at Yale University, double majoring in Global Affairs and History. From Fort Worth, Texas, she serves in YIRA, having been YIRLI 2026 Director of Communications and now a writer for the Yale Review of International Studies. This summer, she studied international commercial law and economics , learning from professors at Yale Law School and Oxford. She has also vice-chaired MUN sessions for high school students at Yale competitions.


Deewa R.
Studying Political Science and Persian and Iranian Studies
Deewa is a Senior from Oregon studying Political Science and Persian and Iranian Studies. She has been deeply involved with YIRA during her time at Yale. She has served as the ASG of delegations for YMUN 50, USG of international delegations for YMUN LI, chair for YMUN LII, USG of international delegations for YMUN LATAM, USG of delegations and Secretary-General for YMUN Dubai.


Elspeth Y.
Studying Sociology and Humanities
Elspeth Yeh is a junior in Ezra Stiles college, originally from Cambridge, MA, pursuing a double major in Sociology and the Humanities. She has been a member of YIRA for three years, having chaired for YMUN and served on the YMUN Taiwan secretariat as the Under-Secretary-General of Committees. She is so excited to be headed to Tokyo this fall to work with you all!

Studying History
J.G. (James George) Hodge is a sophomore from Wisconsin studying History. He has been involved with Model UN through Yale’s Collegiate team MUNTY, and he has been involved with YIRA since arriving on Yale’s campus last year. He is looking forward to seeing all the great work of the delegates!
