Florida State University has had another banner year in terms of applicants, with about 76,748 applicants to the Class of 2028 across its Early Action and Regular Decision rounds.

UVA’s acceptance rate is lower than in the prior three years, down to 21.8% for the Class of 2028 compared to 23.77% and 25.04% for the Class of 2027 and Class of 2026. Of the 76,748 students who applied to FSU for the Class of 2028, the university extended admission offers to 16,748 students with expectations of enrolling between 6,000 and 6,200 students.

For the Florida State University Class of 2028, 16,748 applicants received offers, yielding an overall acceptance rate of 21.8%.

Florida State University published the final admission results for the Class of 2028 recognizing the school has been experiencing exceptionally high numbers of applicants over multiple admissions cycles.

This year, FSU received 76,748 applications to the Class of 2028, a 7% rise from last year's 71,788, but a slight decrease compared to the 78,088 applications in 2022.

The consistently robust application numbers reflect positively on the school's popularity, not just for Florida residents, but across all 50 states and more than 45 countries around the globe from which the school has received applications for the Class of 2028.

FSU Class of 2028 Regular Decision Acceptance Rate

For the regular decision cycle, 54,782 students applied to FSU, of which some 8,182 got accepted. As a result, the FSU acceptance rate for Regular Decision applicants for the Fall of 2024 was about 15%, making for a remarkably competitive RD admissions round.

The overall acceptance rate was 21.8% for this year, down compared to last year's rate of 23.77% and 25% the year before last.

Last year the overall number of applicants was slightly lower and the acceptance rate slightly higher, compared to this year, pointing to an increasingly competitive admissions dynamic for students applying to FSU.

Unfortunately, unless you qualify for resident status when you apply to FSU, you don't have the option to apply under Early Action, eliminating that option as a way to boost your odds for admission.

FSU Out-of-State Acceptance Rate

In general, out-of-state applicants tend to face stiffer competition than in-state applicants. This is certainly true at FSU. FSU's out-of-state acceptance rate (15%) remains significantly lower than the in-state acceptance rate (39%) which is reserved for in-state applicants only.
