Matthew, originally from Toronto, Canada, studied history at the University of Cambridge. He went on to teach English and History in Japan, where he eventually became the Dean of International Studies at a private boys' school. In his 17 years as Dean, he served as an international college counsellor, helping his students gain admission to universities in Canada and the EU, such as KU Leveun, Amsterdam, Bocconi, UBC, McGill, and UofT.
