Tutorial system
The tutorial system is most commonly used at Oxford and Cambridge, although other top UK universities use this method to various degrees. It offers high levels of contact in small group settings, as well as an in-depth focus on a chosen subject. This allows for an exchange of ideas which facilitates learning beyond lectures.
Low student to faculty ratio
Classes at most top UK universities have a maximum student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1. Tutorials however are much more intimate, these are usually sessions between two or three students and their tutor.
