Brown University received 10% more Early Decision applications than last year and admitted just 13% of the applicant pool. Of the 6,770 applicants, the prestigious Ivy League university admitted just 879 students.

Brown University reported its Early Admission results for the Class of 2027 in December 2022. Of the 6,770 students who applied in the early round, the university accepted just 879 or 13%. To increase your chances of getting into Brown, we recommend you apply early.

The 2026 applicant pool increased by a staggering 9% compared to last year’s record of 46,568 applicants. The 1,651 regular round admits joined 896 students admitted during the early decision round in December 2021.

Not only were 96% of this year’s admits in the top 10% of their high school graduating class, but 17% identified as first-generation college students. Brown’s Class of 2026 came from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. 

The top countries represented in this year’s international admitted class include China, the United Kingdom, Canada, India, Singapore, and Ukraine. Admitted students from Afghanistan and Ukraine received additional support due to the unrest and instability in their countries.

Brown’s Need-Blind Goals for International Students

In an effort to reach more international students, Brown also announced it’s growing the financial aid budget for international undergraduates. The university hopes to become fully need-blind for international students by Fall 2025.

Brown accepted 2,546 students into their Class of 2026. A total of 50,649 students applied to Brown, making it the university’s largest applicant pool in history.

Brown Regular Admissions Results for the Class of 2026

Two years ago, Brown University saw a significant increase in its number of applications. This year Brown received slightly more applications for its Class of 2026 than the Class of 2025. The consistent growth in the last two years is likely due to its test-optional policy, its expanding set of financial aid initiatives, and the major issues facing the world.

During the regular admission round, Brown received 44,503 applications for its incoming Class of 2026 and accepted just 1,651 students. As one of the most competitive schools in the Ivy League, Brown only admitted 3.6% of students in the regular admissions round.

Accepted Students Visit Brown Campus

Brown University’s popular “A Day on College Hill” program is coming back for the first time since 2019. Admitted Class of 2026 students can visit the Brown campus and learn what life is like for Brown undergraduates. Students who attend this event stay overnight in the residence halls and participate in a full 3-day program that includes class visits, panels and lectures, performances, and social events. 

For those who can’t attend, Brown still offers virtual programming that gives admitted students a chance to interact and attend events live online and learn about the Brown community.
