About Ed

After graduating from Oxford, Ed worked as an academic tutor and Oxbridge mentor in a private tutoring context and with volunteer-run Oxbridge access programmes. In one-to-one sessions and group workshops (in person and online) Ed mentored a range of students in preparation for every aspect of the Oxbridge application process, from personal statements to admissions tests and interviews.

Subsequently, Ed worked with a growing education company to develop and run an Oxbridge interview coaching programme for Chinese students visiting the UK. Ed then completed a CELTA course (for teaching English as a foreign language) as a means of exploring education further as a career and enjoyed teaching students with a wide variety of ages, abilities and nationalities.

Branching out more, Ed also worked as a freelance writer, crafting copy for a tutoring company abroad. As a UK Strategy Consultant at Crimson, Ed aims to use his experience as an educator to guide students through their UK admissions journey and to support them in achieving their goals.

In his spare time, Ed now - after studying Classics - is desperately trying to catch up on classic modern literature. When that feels too much like hard work, he reverts back to the comforts of travel writing and historical fiction. At Oxford, he rowed for his college, played hockey and football informally, and competed against Cambridge in the Varsity Judo match. Having contemplated the difficulties of socially distanced judo, Ed’s recently entered the more serene realm of yoga and has also become a keen runner. However, any athletic gains are challenged by Ed’s growing interest in cooking, a result of some Italian friends teasing him about his ‘all too British’ culinary endeavours.
