Dartmouth College Releases Class of 2026 Acceptance Results

It was also another record application year for Dartmouth College. The prestigious Ivy League college received 28,336 applications, just 21 less than last year’s record of 28,357 and a 33% increase from the previous year. Dartmouth extended admissions offers to just 1,767 students.

Dartmouth College’s incoming Class of 2026 included a diverse group of innovators and world-changers. “Reading this year’s applicant pool, and shaping a class from its impressive depth, was inspiring and humbling,” said Lee Coffin, Vice Provost of Enrollment and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid.

Dartmouth’s acceptance rate for the Class of 2026 was just 6.2%, tying the Class of 2025 as the most selective admission cycle in the school’s history.

“The acceptance rate cannot capture the intellectual engagement and personal vibrancy showcased across the pool, and the Admissions Committee was excited to see the palpable connection students outlined between their college aspirations and Dartmouth’s signature strengths.”

- Lee Coffin, Vice Provost of Enrollment and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

The admitted student pool came from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Marianas Islands. International students came from 73 countries across every continent, with the UK, Canada, China, and India with the most international students.

Dartmouth’s Class of 2026 stats:

  • 53% students of color
  • 17% first-generation college students
  • 15% live in a rural community
  • 60% attended public high schools
  • 63% applied for need-based financial aid
  • 19% qualified for Pell Grants

The official announcement was made on Dartmouth’s website Ivy Day, March 31, 2022.

Dartmouth’s Expanded Need-Blind Admissions to International Students

This year, Dartmouth expanded its need-blind admissions policy to all applicants, regardless of citizenship. As of result of this new policy, Dartmouth saw a 2% increase in admitted international students. In total, 15% of the Class of 2026 are international citizens.

“The dynamism and depth of Dartmouth’s global applicant pool was incredible,” Coffin says. “The universal need-blind admission policy was a wonderful new opportunity to consider these candidacies on their academic and personal merit.”
