GAMSAT Exam In Detail

Registration Dates, Deadlines, Cost and Details

How long is the GAMSAT?

Okay, so this is where it gets a tad scary.

In order to sit the GAMSAT, you’re going to need the whole day set aside.

That’s right, clear your calendar because you can expect to be at the testing centre for at least nine hours.

Additionally, you’re going to need to be very punctual. If you show up after everyone else, you may not be allowed in.

And if you arrive after the test has begun, you are definitely not going to be allowed in.

The breakdown of the GAMSAT schedule is as follows:

  • Five and a half hours of testing time
  • 25 minutes of reading time
  • One hour of recess time

When you add this together, it’s only six hours and 45 minutes; however there is also time factored in for a pre- and post-test recess, as well as a bit of break time between each of the three sections.

And there goes nine hours!

Can I Sit The GAMSAT?

You can sit the GAMSAT as long as you meet the other eligibility criteria for the graduate course you are applying to – number one being an undergraduate degree! We encourage you to double check the university course requirements to confirm your eligibility.

While it is preferred, a science undergraduate degree is not always a prerequisite. In fact, universities and colleges often encourage applications from students who have achieved academic excellence in other fields.

Remember, knowledge and ability in the biological and physical sciences is key to acing the GAMSAT, so studying these at an undergraduate level is going to be an advantage. Without a core understanding of science, you will have to study that much harder for the GAMSAT.

But if you’re planning on working as a doctor, dentist or in the health science field, then that’s going to benefit you anyway, right?

By all means, give it a crack by yourself, but you might want to reach out for some expert tutoring to help catch you up!

We provide GAMSAT coaching if you need assistance in improving your results.
